Pontiac 8.2 Pinion Bearing

Is there a tool available to install the pinion bearing without damaging it? I don’t have a press either. Recommendations?

well... you really need a press. Some people will tell you to put the pinion in freezer and the bearing can be heated in the oven or some I have seen torches like propane etc... BUT the proper way is the press. We just use old beaing inner races after removing the bearings and cage then hone the inside out a little and there is your tool. 1.440 ish ID and you should be good. OR a pipe cut can work too ... oil that id of bearing and shaft od before pressing on the bearing...
IF you have not figured out the set up of the gear set yet you had better hone out a bearing for a set -up bearing...The last thing you want is to be pressing the bearing on and off and on and off.
