Jaguar diff with cutlass gears

I got some 2.29 cutlass gears from JD to fit in my jaguar differential and here’s how I did it
I bored the cutlass gear off it’s shaft and spark eroded splines in , I cut the gear off the jag pinion and splined it to match
Not a easy job these things are hard as hell
I had to make a full spool to take the ring gear

The pinion shaft on the right was a test piece
The axle is now back in car and ready to test , I’ll keep you updated

That is VERY interesting. I am glad we could supply your need for the gear. It is truly neat how just about anyone with some skill can get machining done to create and solve a problem . How did you know the gear mesh would work as far as pinion engagement to the ring being the same as GM engagement?

I think I made it sound a lot easier than it actually was
There is a spacer under the pinion gear that I could machine to get the pinion depth right before permanently fitting the gear
Must of had those gears in and out fair few times
The spool is a one off 19 spline
Once I got everything close it was just case of shimming
Lot of hours in it

I is good that we are still trying to be inventive. SEEMS the government is just working LAZY into every newer generation. WE can not be LAZY and be satisfied with what is tossed to us. We have to want more and we have to create if somethings are not available. It must stay this way as this is how our country made its mark. From all the people that were oppressed in other over powering countries . The freedom to think and do different is why we all are here. OK is not good enough only the BEST.
