I'm trying to figure out where a vibration is coming from. 1970 GTO, noticed vibration from rear after reassembling car and installing 3.55 posi unit that I got from you about a year ago. Balanced and rebalanced rear tires, swapped fronts to rear, had u-joints replaced and driveshaft balanced. Now if I lift rear and run up to speed I notice the right rear has noticable runout. Do you think the axle is bent? If I pull the axle and check it what is the acceptable runout?

Mike, all depends where your measuring from. It is best to get the axle up in a lathe with a dial indicator. You can tell it the axle flange is bent with a dial indicator which is what I think your meaning by run out ...Yes? I would say no more than .005. I will axle my machinist tomorrow.
