Hey Jim, Finally got to put in the LS carrier, and I know you said, "be gentle with that unit",,, Well,,,,, I went to the track,,, heated up the drag radials,,, smashed the gas on the last yellow,,,, and boom!,,,this is what I found.... I thought I would have gotten the summer out of it

,,,, Oh well.............

OH MY GOD!!!! MAn that is really unfix-able NOW...lol
MAY BE it hooked too good... The spider gears in those rears are JUST TOO SMALL
Man I feel bad for you... HOW often do you track this car? MAYBE toss in a mini spool for a while BUT the next thing your gonna need to watch is the AXLE shafts.... !!!!
I wish you could afford the 8.8 or 8.5 we build that will hold. Direct bolt in custom upper control arms for ultimate adjust-ability for the track or street. Check the NEW PRODUCTS section ofr pictures.
How much power are you pushing...Really do not care about HP, I care ABOUT TORQUE and when it hits...
What was the Motor size again?

My motor is an Iron headed 355 SBC,very tired, circle {short track} motor, It had 3 "victories" on it when I put it in my 80 Malibu 5 years ago. I don't have any dyno #'s but she pulls the front tires up with drag radials on the street! It is pretty funny watchin peoples reactions when I leave a traffic light!

LOL. I've been running Moser Axles, Richmond gears, Auburn Pro carrier and an aluminum support cover ever since I put the Bu together and never had a problem, I also have Dbl. Adj. Upper and Lower control arms. I pull the rear apart every winter and inspect everything and that is when I saw the cracked cone in my Auburn Pro carrier, was a little un-easy about it so I got the G80 from you to hold me over until I can buy a 8.5GN or the 8.8 you sell, but that didn't work! LOL,, so I put my Auburn Pro series carrier with the cracked cone back in and it seems to be fine. I usually hit the track weekly from June till Sept. along with numerous Cruise nights. Its a street car that sees ALOT of track time. Hopefully I will be in contact with you over this coming winter, I should have enough "green" to buy a "better" rear from ya'!!
THANKS for all your help so far!!
Here is a pic of my Bu,,,
I know you are a busy guy, when you have time, here is a link to all my pics.

Hey Jim, I have ran into a short fall of $$$$ to purchase a rear end from you

, Would like to know if you have or can find me a Auburn cone style LS carrier to hold me over this upcoming season? I am looking for the style like the first pic below, must be series 2 {I have a thick set of Richmond gears} and NOT a G80 like the one I got from you last year that I exploded
NOT THIS STYLE G80............ I know I can blow these to smithereens!!
I would like to replace my Auburn with the "cracked" cone, and just "shelf" it for a spare for now....
THANKS!!
John

Yes I under stand. That is the NEWER designed one that were put into the monte carlo SS 85-88 7 5/8 units. The spider gears are larger and the side gears are slightly smaller to square up the size of the gears.
I doubt i have any left. I have a few EATON posi units I can cut a deal on. I will PM you numbers as they are pretty low and do not want to stir up trouble with my suppliers ...lol Jim
I will look and see what we have. Jim

John, I really advise against doing this again. I am afraid you will loose an axle and destroy the car or yourself.
The other design really is not going to be much stronger if at all. As all the metal is still made from the same mix type of basic metal for street cars. Aftermarket units use better mix of metallurgy and hardened.
I have one you are looking for BUT please rethink this. Jim
This unit is 190.00 and i will ship it free.
I have a aftermarket 2 series auburn (one left on the shelf) 325.00 NEW 10.00 shipping
Both will fit your application. 2 series thick gears.

Hey Jim, Against yours and my better judgement,,,, I will take the used 1 for $190,,,,My "price point" is $200, I really don't want to spend more cause I am still trying to add more $$$ towards a new complete rear from you. I "lost" your paypal info, so can you let me know what it is again and my buddy will forward you the $$$$. I will PM you his address for shipping.
THANKS!!!
John

Ran my best 1/8th mile time at the end of the season last year, a 7.94 with a cracked cone

I think/hope this one will hold up till the end of this coming season

Now I just have to wait till the weather breaks

and I will "Run that mother"
Thanks again,
John
