What ratio? Is this just the 3rd member? Want it for a 1978 El Camino 10 bolt, will this fit my OE housing?

You need a 7.5 with 26 spline axles as the 1878-1987 caminos were all g-body and all used 7.5 with the exception of the GN and 442 olds in 1984-1987 ONLY.

So your looking for a 7.5 10 bolt GM posi with 26 spline axle application

7.5 series are as follows

2 series 2.14 2.29 2.41 2.56 2.73 2.93 3.08
3 series 3.23 3.42 3.73 4.10 4.56

I have 2 series for the same price 199.00
3 series I only have in 28 spline axles 259.00

I can get NEW true trac (newest technology and strongest for your 7.5) 26 spline 3 series posi for your car at the price of 375.00

we also have the 28 spline axle upgrade for your car which will greatly increase it ability to handle torque and horsepower.

Hello.

I know this ad is old, but do you still have this rear axle? Does it come with the limited slip/posi unit? Is it the Oldsmobile or Buick carrier, as seen both in stock 71-72 Cutlasses/442's?

Thank you,
Anthony

Are there any 3 series 30 spline remans available? 8.5 G-body housing. I don't want the govloc style. I'd like the Eaton clutch style. Thanks.

We have GM Impala SS type posi units they are Auburn from the factory 239.00 each 3 series or 2 series.
30 spline axles from 1990-1996 Impala caprices and Road masters. NOT THE TRUCK AUTO LOCKER / GOV LOCKER.

Good Morning Jim,

Nice talking with you yesterday. Now that I know I have a 8.5 rear end I'd like to replace the open end with a limited slip posi unit. I'm not going to be racing around the streets nor am I thinking about going on LONG trips in the car but I do want the rear to be responsive if I do jump on the gas. The motor is basically stock but I plan on a few upgrades, headers, manifold, carb & maybe ignition.
So what would you recommend for me? My 1972 Buick Skylark most likely has a 2.56 rear, I'm guessing because it was originally a 2bbl V8.
Do you also stock the gear sets?

Thanks in advance!

Gary, What gear set do you want. We need to start there as then you would buy the correct series carrier to fit the ratio you would want.

You need to sit back and figure out what your car will do for you.

Street Strip Cruise highway use???? Like that.

If you have a totally stock motor you can get ANY ratio from 2.41 - 4.56

If you were use to driving in the 2.56 range and think you want more low end grunt - only a couple of stepes up will be necessary to notice a difference
IE going to 3.08 or 3.23 will be a fairly BIG difference from 2.56.

Jim,
Lets go with the 3.23, I think that would be my best choice. It will still cruise at 65mph on the freeway but give me a bit of ompff, on the street.

What say you sir?
