Wheel bearings

Post by mercmarc »

I'm thinking of replacing the axle bearing in my gm 8.5 diff. It has the super nova alloy axle. Do you recommend the one piece bearing with seal or the two piece?

If you are talking about c-clip axle... ALWAYS use the 2 piece bearing and seal. NEVER the one piece as that is a REPAIR bearing... IT will leak.

Please confirm what axle type you have? Jim

It's a c-clip axle. It's a ten bolt diff you built for my nova. It's the 30 spline.

Is there a certain brand of bearing you recommend?

Torrington is what GM used ...
5707 bearing and 8660s seal...

I think there is a kit number too. R1563TAV something like that.
