can i visually tell a 8.2 10 bolt from a 8.5?

That does help alot.

Yoke type and axle tube size on some are also an easy give away too.

8.5 and 8.2 are some of the 2 most confused differentails.

They both can take the same inspection cover.

The yoke is the next best thing to look at the 8.5 will always have bolts and straps to connect the u-joint. the 8.2 10 bolt have u-bolts and some did come with bolts and straps also.

The pinion is physically longer than the 8.2 so interchanging them will require a shorter drive shaft for the 8.5.
