1968-1970 Buick positraction units 2.56-2.93 NEW NEW

Post by monzaz »

I have 1968-1970 Buick /GS posi units for the 2.56 2.73 2.93 ratios. The are aftermarket .
2.56 will require some webbing modifications but the 2.73 and 2.93 will bolt right in.

We can provide the proper carrier bearings to make this a bolt and go posi and will only be 40.00 to have the NEW side carrier bearing pressed on and will come with their matching races. .

Bolt on your ring gear reshim your carrier and double check your backlash and your done....

449.00 + shipping to all locations in the USA and most int'l location. PM with zip code and will figure it all out for you.

Thanks, Jim

Is this something that's still available? I know we've spoke a day or 2 ago about a few things. Just trying to keep all bases.
I've read on here in several places about the 68/70 bop 8.2 2.93 gear, bolt in posi swap... is this something that was available and isn't anymore? I have a 68 lesabre 8.2 casting 1382700 no posi.
Also can get my hands on a 68 gs400 same casting factory posi 3.42. Would love use my lesabre rear and repair it with a posi swap from this post. If still possible....

Or am I misunderstanding this post entirely? Dont mean to keep harping on this but I dont know a huge deal about rear differential a and I'm kinda dead in the water right now. I do know that the gs400 rear will bolt right up and go. My only concern with it is, first if it fails will I be in the same boat as far as no replacement parts OEM or aftermarket ( I read that you or someone on here has/had 3.42 gears that worked with the Auburn posi?) And second highway speeds. I dont do alot of interstate driving, but I do occasionally like to go to a cruise in that is a long distance away. So what kinda revs would I be pulling dont the interstate?

Hopefully after all this rambling. I can understand this whole deal. Sorry for my ignorance on the topic. The car had jumped time when I got it, had carb issues and several other issues. I fixed all those myself. I can wrench on a engine all day long, but differentials are foreign water for me.

Thanks for you patience and time.

Yes we have these unit 2.73 and 2.93 ratio posi units. WE DO NOT have gears

Skylark 68-70 guts will fit your 10 bolt 8.25 Lesabre rear ...YOU CAN NOT use the housing or the aXLES.
lESABRE HAS LONGER AXLE SHAFTS AND THE HOUSING TO CHASSIS MOUNTING POINTS ARE DIFFERENT.

So you can use the posi unit and the ring and pinion and yoke....NOTHING else.
