Looking to upgrade the rear end on my Monza Spyder

Hi Jim. I've been looking for an builder for a custom rear for my 77 Monza Spyder. I like the torque arm it has ,but need a stronger rear now. My torque arm is solidly frame mounted .
I presently have a 7.5 with richmond gears,s-10 axles,posi, and girdled. But even totally rebuilt with only a seasons racing ,i'm seeing metal filings in the oil already. And wear is apparant across the entire face of the gears. I'm pulling 12.3 /110 mph running street slicks.(330 rwhp) . I'm getting nervous about tuning anymore power into it!!
I've been looking at an aftermarket f-body 12 bolt or ford 9 with an aftermarket torque arm,and modifiying.
Looking at the h-body website/forums suggests you are the man to talk to.
My problem has been all builders cannot supply a rear without me sending my rear end to them for removal and re-installation of existing brackets. I live in central Canada,and the extra shipping costs are prohibitive.
Do you specialize in differentials for h-bodies?

Hi Paul, Yes we can build the H-body rear. If you using the torque arm it does limit you choices. If you are racing the car mostly and have not much street time at all then a ladder bar set-up is the way to go.

If you need it still street able them a Moser 12 bolt center for an f-body and plan tubes and us welding on the perches you need will be a better option.

I out of preference do not build Ford 9" rears ...Just because... lol. I try to be GM all the way. That may change, but right now it is.

It would be nice to get your perches from your rear but we can supply them or fabricate what is needed also.

We have housing for example applications to measure from to make them stock mount location.

We can build the vega rears much easier and cheaper because all the mounting points are on the axle tubes.

Do you envision a horsepower limit on a 12 bolt torque arm rear? I would like to keep the car streetable. But I am also progressively adding power. So far I've been pleased launches,- 8 inch rubber 1.77 /60 foots. NO skip hop spin,nothing. Just hooks and goes straight ! (9 inch slick going on this week regardless, street slicks are fun ,but costly in the burnout box)
I guess what i'm asking is what would be the advantage of a ladder bar set up. Would traction/adjustability become the issue on a torque arm rear on a car planned for mid 11's?
Or are you worried the (Customized aftermarket)torque arm or Moser housing may break on ,say, a trans-brake launch?// Paul

No way is a MONZA weight car going to brake the Moser housing 12 bolt rear with ford ends and 33 spline axles even with just a eaton or true trac.

I use a 10 bolt 8.5 with GM axle full spool ladder bar set-up caged car and it does 1.40 60 foot pulls the fronts and runs low eleven high 10.90 so it all depends on how much you want to keep the cars original suspension intact... If that is not a big deal them just go 8.5 10 bolt and ladder bar it up with good axles and some kind of c-clip elim kit ford ends or moser elim kit and call it done. Moser 12 bolt for your Monza will be up there in price BUT it sure would look sweet under there. :) Jim

Some day I WILL get it DONE for my monza and Stick shift just to beat the heck out of it on the Manual hift drags they have around here.
