12 bolt carrier............for what?

Post by WMACHINE »

Okay Jim, what do we have here? Can you id it? 7/16 bolts, I don’t yet have the axle spline count. Suspecting a B-body unit. Any way to tell what series for gear ratios?

Thanks,
Kurt

need the casting number for the sereis or measurement from the table to the machined ring gear flange will be in the 1" -2" range (IE 1 7/16")

Looks to be from a 12 bolt pontiac (or what they call a GM Corporate 12 bolt Full size car 1978-1984 will have 28 spline c-clip axles and a ring gear diameter of 8.75

1971-1977 were 31 and later versions were 28 some c-clip some bolt in axle ring gear diameter was 8.875

ALL used left hand thread 7/16" bolts

SOME very few 1973-1977 Monte carlo, El camino and Cutlass were optioned with these rear if you have the BIG motors. 11" drums too.
