Hello I am new to the forum and to building differentials.
Last week my 8.2 decided to blow up driving down the road. It has 2.73 gears in it. I am getting ready to purchase a kit from a company on eBay. It contains of an auburn hp posi motive 3:73 gears and a timken bearing kit. One of the carrier bearings match what he sent me but the other doesn't even have a part number on it and it is bigger. What do I do in this situation? The carrier is toast by the way. It's cracked in half. I think I e read somewhere that you use a chevy 10 bolt carrier bearing or something?

First off you can not post 1 meg pictures... you have to be reasonable with the sizes.
try resizing in a paint program etc. Also set your camera and or phone on less resolution.

Ok on to the 8.25 you have and that is what you have. 68 69 70 BUICK ONLY 8.25 10 bolt cover rear with 10 bolt cover that looks just like a Pontiac 8.2.
The driver side carrier bearing is bigger than the passenger side. (The bigger carrier bearing is a 12 bolt chevy carrier bearing and race. )
The pinion shaft is 1.875 also MUCH bigger than any 8.2 pontiac pinion .
HERE IS the news you do not want to hear.
NO AFTERMARKET PARTS are available for this rear.
WE do have CUSTOM PARTS for your 8.25 they are really expensive BUT fit your stock 8.25 68 69 70 BUCK 8.25 rear
3.42 and 3.64 gears are available
Posi nit for 2.73 2.93 3.23 3.42 GM gears and 3.64 Aftermarket Custom gears we sell are available
MAster rebuild bearing kit is also available for your 8.25 rear
We also have axle bearings and seals.
