BOP part interchangeability

Post by 14hbnelson »

I have a 65 Buick 8.2 non posi rearend, I was wondering if the internals from a 67 Pontiac 8.2 posi could be bolted into the Buick rearend.

Yes - all the 1964-1967 Buick Oldsmobile and Pontiac 10 bolt 8.2 rears share the same gears and posi units.

Only difference is the pinion yoke and pinion seal.

normally the 1964-1967 Buick rear will have a 8620 SEAL AND MATCHING YOKE
1966-1967 PONTIAC Will have a 2043 seal and matching yoke
1964-1965 Pontiac will use the buick/ olds 10 bolt 8.2 as Pontiac did not have a rear of their own yet.

Buick axles in the GS will be another difference in the 10 bolt 8.2 rears.
Buick used the RW507GR BEARING
ALL THE REST OF THE 8.2 10 BOLT COVER REARS WITH BOLT IN AXLES USED THE RW507CR
EARLY 8.2 WAGONS USED A RW507AR ALSO AND EARLY 64 65 GS TOO...

Hope that covers most of the question you need. :) Jim
