There is no climbing or bending they look fine. I did not do pics with .30 shim. I will do the .30 and leave the carrier shims alone, and just change them if I need to set the backlash bigger or smaller? Lowest I can go is .30. Ordered shims and never got any lower than the .30! I also paid 43.00 bucks to overnight them. Oh well. I'll call ya later.

Take that .026 ... What was the backlash? Really NEED to know the backlash. MAKES ALL the difference.
How does it feel now? Looks like it is totally swiping the gear face. Put a lot of oil on it and spin it.
Might have to run about .007 on the back lash or .009 which ever makes the best swipe of the compound. Jim

Sorry! The backlash was 9 and felt good and looked better. I will try the 7 backlash and pick the best looking swipe. Will post a pick of the 9 and 7 backlash together next photo shot. Then you can respond and maybe this particular posting help other people as well with the photos and all.

this is final set-up with loaded carrier and new pinion bearing. pinion is .26, backlash is 8-9 all around. 216 on lft, and 254 on rght. Give me some good news this time . ONLY IF YOU WOULD RUN IT YOURSELF THOUGH.
Re: More pics Jim here is my pattern, Help!
I do not know how your pattern keeps changing with the same shim and backlash. IT is so confusing. God I wish I could sdo this for you. Look how the cost side changed again.
I am tired too. Look at the 2 pictures before these last 2 pictures. THose 2 first pictures at .026 are what we want at the end of the day. Jim
NOW you say you keep changing the bearing. DO you have a set-up bearing and a NEW bearing that you install at final fit? IF so I think your 2 inner pinion bearings are DIFFERENT specs which is what is changing the final set-up. THAT is the only thing I can attribute to your final set up always being a mess??? Like I said I can only do so much be here and you being there.
YOU can see what I consider a good pattern from all the pictures you have provided. YOU have to have a final pattern that resembles those GOOD patterns IF not then it needs to be figured out why it is changing. Jim
TIGHTEN the backlash to .005 see what happens for me. Jim

Ok,Jim rechecked everything and my backlash was off. My mistake! .26 on pinion, backlash 8, 227 on lft side , and 250 on the right. Looks alot better.
