Yes, 10 bolt PONTIAC 8.2 rear
You will be fine as long as you use aftermarket parts (gears posi bearings) You have BOLT in axles so you will be good there too even if a axle does break they will stay put in the housing.

I like the 8.2 Pontiac 10 bolts thy are one of the best designed 10 bolt 8.2 rears among Buick, Olds and Chevy. Bearing caps are huge, Bolt in axles cast center housing has a lot of webbing to reinforce strength... You will be fine as long as you build it correctly...But goes with anything too. :)

We have parts to build this rear. A set of good used gears is on ebay right now 3.55 Pontiac
Posi unit can be bought also Auburn Eaton we have rebuild kits - axle bearing kits, and even NEW alloy axles which are 30 % stronger than stock.

Well we sell the 10 bolt 8.5 with the 30 spline upgrade axles (which you should if your going for more strength as both 8.5 and 8.2 are the same spline axles stock form.
1495.00
If you are hanging out on the street mostly - burn outs show offs etc. the Pontiac rear will more than do the job. You also get Bolt In Axles which is a big plus for the body work of your car.

If the axle breaks in a stock 8.5 it slides out and rear quarter will be a MESS... :(
This is why we upgrade to 30 spline and alloy axle so hopefully that will not be an issue.
