87 Buick GN bearing
87 Buick GN bearing
My buddy is looking for original style outer axle bearings for the 87 GN. He claims what is on the shelf and in the books is thinner than the original GN bearing. He says it fits but gives less support to the axle. Is he wrong or has this original bearing been superseded by the generic G body 8.5 bearing? Thanks
Re: 87 Buick GN bearing
Well I would never like to say someone is wrong BUT we have been building the 10 bolt GM rears for 20 year now at least and 5707 is it got the c-clip mid size car.
There are different design types which maybe ever so slight in the barrel bearing width...BUT nothing that is going to cause a premature failure. IF the bearing is just plain manufactured incorrect, YES.
So really it comes down yo name brand etc. We have used Gm -Timkin, Koyo, Torrington... Thiose are good names U=I am sure there are others. REMEMBER you can have a defect in ANY name brand part...etc.

1987 Gn bearing will be the same from a 1965 Chevy II or Chevelle etc. all the same axle c-clip barrel bearing.
