Hello Jim,
I started the swap of the ratios today. I used the shim which came with the pinion from you. I believe it is a .035. After the pinion got the right preload, I used the yellow cream which came with the rebuilding kit. After mounting the rest of the parts it shows that the nomenclature is more on the inner side of the theeth. Shop manual says I have to decrease the thickness of the shim. But how can I get off the bearing from the pinion without destroying it?
Thanks for your help and
Greetings from Germany
Thomas
Ratio Swap
Re: Ratio Swap
We normally have clam shell puller or knife edge puller and press.
Best thing to do is to hone out another bearing for set-up just enough for a slide on or very light press. Jim
