What lubricant do you recommend to assemble the disc's on a 408 / 409 posi carrier...........

Regular Mineral based oil - WITH posi additive mixed in. That should do nicely. YOU do not need to soak as steel clutches do not really have a porosity to them. Dunk and go.

Make sure you shim as tight as you can with being able to spin the spiders in with the thrust washer in place. The preload spring will make the shim pack tight and the spider will have the correct backlash.
You should not have to HAMMER the spiders in. that is TOO tight. Jim
