On a 8.5 Auburn posi unit can you change the side gears from 30 to 28 spline
Will the side/pinion gears from a 28 spline auburn 7.5/7.625 work in the 8.5 unit I found a 98 firebird in the yard with an auburn
going to upgrade my axles down the road to 30 spline just can't afford it right now trying to get it rolling as cheap as possible

7.5/7.625 to 8.5 will never work
After market 8.5 to 8.5 30 spliner Auburn could work BUT you need to be sure the hub is drilled big enough to get a 30 spline axle through the carrier hub stub.
GM auburn 26 -28 spline will not work. Period. @ totally different designed spider gear set-ups.
Seems as if it would be an easy deal...But not so. At least you asked before wasting time and money. Jim
