Posi rear axle slipping

Post by carcrazy »

Hello,
I have a Posi rear axle out of a 72 buick GS 350 that is slipping? I only have one tire that spins when I have a heavy foot. I believe it's a 3.23 ratio. I've never had much to do with rear axle work and was wondering how to fix this problem? And were to buy the parts I need. A couple photo's of what parts I need and what stuff looks like and any secrete's anyone may have to make it easier would be excellent.

Thanks,

Dan

Welcome Dan,
First thing we need to ID the rear diff you have under the car. What you should have and what you really have MAY be 2 different things.

SO rear cover pictures will help... We also need to ID the type of POSI unit you have also and that can only be done by removal of the rear cover again shoot some pictures.

IF you just want a NEW posi we can option that ...BUT if all the rear needs are clutches that may be the cheaper way to go.

There is NO magical way to fix the one wheel spinning with fluid or stuff like that SO please do not fall for that garbage. :)

Lets start with ID diff first.
