Saginaw tail gasket delete

Post by billytbass26 »

Just purchased a rebuilt saginaw from a rebuilder/round track racer of sags. He informed me he just uses sealant with no gasket for the tail housing to the main case assembly. He said it tightens up the trans and reduced chatter. Just want to get some opinions on this before I install the trans. Not sure how much more chance of leaking this might cause. Should I just put the gasket in to be safe?

??? I am not a tranny guy...But does not really sound like a good thing to me? When you go to remove it WHAT A MESS the next time.

I ALWAYS use gaskets for the rear diff inspection cover??? With a light coat of silicone of course.

Your call I do not see it being a problem as long as it seals up.

My Opinion. Jim
