Re: 69 GTO axle shat ID
Ok the axle on the right is a sealed bearing axle the one on the left is a tapered oiled bearing with external seal that is installed on the axle shaft. THESE 2 axles ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. They have two different flange to bearing offset . The right axle uses a inner axle tube seal that does not ...

Re: 69 skylark diff ??????
Yah, So I guess you know who really rebuilt there rear and who did not...LOL. Jim 1964-1967 Buicks all use the Pontiac ring and pinion set-up which is the most common and well supported by the aftermarket. 1968-1970 were the beefed up 8.2 Buick rears with the 12 bolt driver side carrier bearing and ...

Re: 69 skylark diff ??????
Hey Jason we really need to ID your diff before we go any further as the 68-70 Buick rears are way different...BUT since you say you have a 449 bearing I am hoping someone did a rear swap already. DOes the rear have bolt in axles? How many spline pinion for the yoke is the count 25 or 27? Does your ...

Re: '65 GS Posi Upgrade
Man, Can any body do there job right??? HUMMMM ! Well that will all depend on the area it rides... chromeing that part could do it ...but may be expensive...more expensive than getting a new one. how deep is the score? you could have a grinding shop take it down some. I can not see the depth of the ...

Yes the grease can get very resistive and gooey. The friction will surly take care of that and it will liquidate. Jim

Re: USED POSITRACTION UNITS IN NEED OF REPAIR OR UNWANTED
get me the spring perch width and the overall width. Also it might just be easier to rebuild yours since it fits...lol. Jim You really need to know the power of your vehicle. to get the best gas mileage you should stick with the 3.42 gear. My conversion van has 3.42 and tow my race car and trailor g...

Re: Buick posi I.D.
Yes a spacer may work with the rear...BUT we need to make a spacer as I do not know if one exsists. I think if you can get your hands on a pontiac old 57-64 drop out ring gear spacer the metal ring may fit and may only need a redrill over sized of the bolt holes IF they are not big enough. Longer le...

Re: '65 GS Posi Upgrade
Oh and do not assume they axle shaft press on diameter is also larger as they make MANY differet sealed bearings ...1.382 is the standard for most pontiac buick and olds 8.2 rears. So hang tight keep measuring and I will call.

Re: '65 GS Posi Upgrade
The seal metal all needs to come out. Just hit it on one side crushing it them pick it out. The metal is quite thin and will distort easy. You will need to replace them any way. 8594s seal...fairly common. The 65 should have normal RW507CR bearings UNLESS you have a WAGON rear. I do not think GS had...

Re: 66 Pontiac Grand Prix 12 bolt posi
Ok well we have trouble here at the moment... The full size Pontiacs are NOT supported by aftermarket gears at this time...I say at this time because There is a gentleman in Texas working on the gears as we write. Some of the full size pontiacs did come with 3.73 and 4.11...BUT they are extremely VE...

Re: '65-'67 Olds rears
I would say a very small amount were 4 pinion posi unit in 67 as the 12 bolt olds rear was introduced in that year in the USA cars for the w-30 etc. so I would say only the first half of the year and MAYBE canadian cars got them. Jim (That is a guess-ti-mation) I am assembling a T# 67 68 rear right ...
