Re: '70 12 bolt "O" strengthening.

MG - vERY SORRY THIS THREAD SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS FOR US. :( geez sorry about the caps too. The 12 bolt olds with the parts you bought will hold up great even with what you think is high HP and Torque. Factory Big Blocks had 500 ft lbs. from 2800 RPM which is TONS of torque. Just be sure if you...

Re: 71 Buick 8.5

We have new clutches. I always try to shim the clutches with harden shim stock as much as I can before opting to NEW clutches at 200 dollars a set. adding a .010 or 0.10 depending on how much is worn away can be the difference. Do clean all the clutches and this way you are starting fresh with fluid...

Re: 8.5 switch from 2:73 to 3:42 gears

Well I think we should ID the rear to be sure that is what you have before getting all torqued up. The LOW horse BOP FULL SIZE cars did come with 10 bolt 8.5 rears.... so it is very possible... Send a few pictures and we can ID that. NOW if it is a 8.5 10 bolt corporate rear- 2.73 IS a 3 series gear...

Re: 71 Buick 8.5

Fluid will not get your posi back...Probably not even a little. If the clutches are that bad the only thing that MIGHT happen is you will blow your spider gears. Best to pull those clutches and see what is happening then if you need a new set purchase a STEEL clutch set- They are MUCH better for spi...

Re: 8.2 posi

Ok, Well first off your not doing your self any better going from one USED rear to another. NO reliability there. Next you really need to figure out what ratio is in your original rear - This reason is for knowing what you are driving around with that is NOT doing the job for you and where to go to ...

Re: 10 bolt 8.2 BOP axle housing pins

make sure your perches are the same angle to each other if they are not you spun the tube in the center section.

angle finders from harbor freight work well for this.

Re: 10 bolt 8.2 BOP axle housing pins

There are NO plugs... they are holes in the casting that lead to the tube...then the welder needs to hit the tube on the first strike to get a good weld on the tube. I would say THIS IS NOT making your car squirelly shocks spring bushings and frame of the car will make the car feel squirlly and loos...

Re: 10 bolt 8.2 BOP axle housing pins

Ok, I get it now... yes those are holes that are plug welded after the tube is pressed into the cast center. They can leak after time... Not much you can do. we have had success cleaning out the entire differential cavity and getting sealant inside the casting where the tube meets the tubes and load...

Re: G body 8.5

Ok what can we help with? JR rear? Do remember ANY 10 bolt 8.5 rear into any GM with out a original 8.5 rear will ALWAYS need a driveshaft shortening. Next sometimes adjustable upper control arms are needed for pinion angle correctness- we sell our rears with double adjustable upper control arms as ...
