Buick Riviera -71, -72 posi rear end

Have a Buick Riviera rear end sitting in the garage with the following ring gear number 41812 GM KH 334 1, my math by counting gears say 3,42:1.
Anywhere I can get the number translated?

71 Riviera 3.42:1 posi rear end.

Is it possible to fit a -71 Riviera rear end under a -65 A-body?
And if so what would it take?

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Thx so much John. I am sorry for not getting back with you until now (been abroad working). Anyhow things took a slight turn this weekend when I found a 1971 Buick Riviera GS 9.5" 3.42:1 posi. rear end that I got for $100.00... at a neighbors garage!!!!!!! (lived here for 6 years and did not kn...

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Jim,

That terminal is not too far from me, I can pick it up there no problem.
Yes that would be a good solution with dual pattern for 0.480" knurl and
a threaded pattern.
So what would my total come up to then?

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Jim, 3/4" overall (3/8" per side), is the knurl on the 7/16" and the 1/2" wheel studs the same size? because as of right now I just have my Buick Rally wheels and they will not accommodate the 1/2" wheel studs. Kingwood, TX 77345, this is not commercial but we can of load a ...

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Jim, I was wondering about the 12 bolt 3/4" shorter then std. GM A-body 1965 with FORD ends and ready for my GM 9 1/2" drum brakes. 3.73:1 good gears and posi. 1330 yoke and a TA type rear cover. all painted, built and set up by you and send to Kingwood, TX. This will go under my -65 Buick...

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Jim, Well the 1350 route we have to forget (cannot fit that drive shaft in between my mufflers without cutting and redo the whole thing). How much tourqe and hp can a 2.5" drive shaft hold in a 3700lb car? Any input on a good spherical bearing upper control arm set up? Ok, what would your price...

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Jim, It needs to be set up for my Buick 9 1/2" drum brakes that I have today (less then 500 miles since all new), I guess I can spray it with a durable polyurethane chassie black paint instead of the powder coating. Also I have a 3,5" alu. universal shaft with 1350 U-joints I was planning ...

Re: Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Thanks for the reply Jim.. This is mostly a street cruiser but occasionally we have some track days for the club and you know now how the horns grow when you get to the track.......and I am building a stouter motor too.. One of my issue is the rim combo I run, I use the Buick Ralleys 15X8 with 275X5...

Buick Skylark GS -65 10 bolt 8.2 rear end options

Ok Iong story short... Trying to find a good stronger GM non c-clip rear end for my -65 Skylark. At the moment I am using my -65 Skylark GS 3.08:1 posi. 10 bolt 8.2 bolt in axels behind the 500hp / 550ftlb 455 Buick and th400 transmission on 275 drag radials. I have heard that the -65 GS rear ends a...
