Re: Axle id without pulling them
I took those pics a few months ago when I did the seals. lol. Anyway its a 79 sunbird formula coupe. I will just have to pull them when I feel up to it again. The seal doesnt seem to be leaking but I suspect it will over time with the pitting. I tried to polish it out a little but didnt want to go t...

Axle id without pulling them
Hey Jim, was wondering is there a way to tell 26 spline from 28 spline without pulling the axles out and counting the splines. I do have the 5 lug but forgot to check when I replaced the outer seals. I have pitting where the outer seal rides on the drivers side axle. I wanted to buy the set you have...

Saginaw tail gasket delete
Just purchased a rebuilt saginaw from a rebuilder/round track racer of sags. He informed me he just uses sealant with no gasket for the tail housing to the main case assembly. He said it tightens up the trans and reduced chatter. Just want to get some opinions on this before I install the trans. Not...

saginaw
Looking for a 1 groove saginaw (2.56 1st gear). May consider the 0 groove as well. Have the 3 groove behind a mild built v8 and its just too much for 1st and 2nd gear.
Like to find in useable condition.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Pinion angle
Thanks Jim,
Yeah this is something I wont mess with for obvious reasons. lol.( limited knowledge)
I just purchased some tiny snubbers to place on the bars for now. There appears to be no issues with harmonics or vibration so I'll leave that alone.

Re: Torsen posi unit
How much do those go for? I think you mentioned somewhere that these are better quality than auburn and eaton units. I have a 28 spline auburn if your interested in a partial trade. I know it's not worth much but I believe it's in good shape. I got it from dans gears on eBay.

Pinion angle
Wondering if my pinion angle has been changed on my 79 hbody. While putting on traction/lift bars I noticed they were too tight for the snubbers. Only have about an inch of space. Just thought about the pinion angle due to having a fabricated trans crossmber. If the tail of the trans is slightly hig...

confusion on a hbody differential
Just have some question on a hbody I just purchasd. It is an H body differential with 5 lug s10 axles, it is I believe 2.93 gear. So I guess my question is. Would the ring and pinion have to be for/from the vega differential? I cant find where this gear was used in the other hbodys. I was told it wa...

Re: FUELIE HEADS 041 1969 HEADS
Hey Jim, I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you had these or any similiar ready to bolt. And also any idea what the compression increase would be. I have a .030 over 350 with 76cc chamber heads now. Been told it was 8 to 1 compression right now. It also has a relatively mild cam. .460...

Torsen posi unit
Looking for a Torsen posi unit for a gm 7.5 ten bolt. 28 spline. Had one in a gm differential I purchased from jd racing and was a great unit. Looking to upgrade from current auburn with 3.23 ratio.
